What are dentures?

Dentures are artificial prosthesis that are used to replace missing teeth by taking support from the adjacent teeth and gum tissues. The dentures are held in place by suction and are crafted to resemble your natural teeth and gums. While traditional gums are removable, we also offer permanent options wherein the dentures are bonded to dental implants (over-dentures).

What are the different types of dentures?

Broadly speaking, there are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures.

Complete dentures

Conventional or complete dentures replace all of your missing teeth in either of your jaws. Your dentist designs each arch of teeth based on your specific measurements and a bite analysis.

Overdenture or Implant Denture – this type of denture sits on dental implants and does not rely on suction to stay in place.

Immediate dentures– are provided to patients who typically undergo tooth extraction; it’s fabricated before your failing teeth are extracted and it is inserted soon after your extraction so that you can go home with all your teeth!

Partial dentures– as the name suggests replaces some of your teeth and can be flexible.

Flipper – is a temporary denture used to replace just one or a few teeth. Its used as a same-day replacement following your extraction.
